We could not be more excited to stand together as a bold and passionate presence in the Minnesota birth community, creating outstanding artistic content and skillfully guiding families through the prenatal, birth, and postpartum days with an array of support services. We feel deeply fortunate to have found one another as business partners and as friends; we are so excited to befriend you, too!

We whole-heartedly believe that our team-centered approach - one in which each Gather member is both a trained doula and talented photographer - allows us to go above and beyond as we serve the unique needs of each client and family, fully and comprehensively. By pooling our expertise, we support one another so that we can support you with the most consistent, experienced, and artful birth photography and doula care in the Twin Cities. Another benefit? Together, we offer guaranteed coverage 365 days per year. There’s no need for you to research back-up photographers or doula support just in case someone on your birth team comes down with the flu. By working with us from the get-go, you can relax in the knowledge that someone you love and trust will attend, support, and document your birth.

We are rock-solid in our mission to acknowledge birth as transformative and help all families feel welcome, supported, and represented. Our dearest hope is that our work is always of the highest caliber and reflects an authentic respect for our clients and their unique birth stories. We support, photograph, and film all types of birth stories in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding suburbs.

In total, we have attended hundreds of births and have a solid 30 years of collective photography experience under our belts. We stand firm in our shared belief that ongoing education and evidence-based practice is 100% key to supporting you well. We’re proud to say that, among others, we’ve received DONA Birth Doula training and certifications, Spinning Babies training, CAPPA training, Hypnobabies and HypnoBirthing training, Lactation Education training, and Eco-Baby Certifications.

We hold ourselves accountable as front-runners in creating a different kind of birth team for the Twin Cities metro area; we also emphasize the importance of learning from and engaging with others in the birth community. We participate in and lead both local and national birth organizations, including Birth Becomes You, MN Birth Photographers, and our local doula communities.

We warmly welcome new connections and support ALL types of families and birth stories; we are LGBTQ affirming and a Transgender Safe Space; we promise to honor and celebrate the individuality you bring to the table.

There’s a reason we refer to ourselves as your birthy best friends! We believe in the power of kindness and hold friendliness up as one of our five core values. It runs through our business as partners and how we work with everyone on your birth team. Most importantly, it narrates our relationship with you, our client. One thing is for sure: we will be there to hold your hand when it’s hard, celebrate with you when it’s wonderful, and laugh with you when it’s bananas.

As a cooperative, we truly believe in giving back. For us, this means that we prioritize supporting birthing people in our community by donating our time, energy, and resources. We also aim to honor our planet by taking small steps that, added together, will change the world. These include going paper-free and reducing our carbon footprint. Lifting up local birth, parenting, and wellness businesses - especially those owned by members of marginalized communities - is another facet of our stewardship efforts.

To stand as leaders in the Minnesota birth community, we believe in holding ourselves accountable in practicing with the highest level of integrity and expertise; we began the Gather Birth Cooperative to focus on providing the best possible birth team for you, no matter what unique history and hopes you hold.
