When meeting with expectant families for our initial consult together, we’ll often start off by asking how they found us and what led them to want to hire a doula and/or birth photographer. It’s becoming more and more common that the answer to that question is our Instagram page and the powerful photos we share there. If you aren’t following us already, head on over and take a peek!

Which then leads folks to a whole bunch of other questions…

“We’re really interested in photography, but how do you decide what photos to share?”

The answer to that is easy - we do not decide, YOU do. We will never share any photos without your permission, and some folks simply choose to keep their birth story and photos private. What you see here on the internet is always shared with consent from the families pictured, and is typically just a small preview of the birth photo gallery we have delivered to them.

“We’re really interested in birth support, but kind of want a little photography, but not like, alllll the photography. Is this a thing?”

It’s a thing! We offer our First Glimpse Package for this very reason. It makes for a wonderful add-on to our Birth Support Packages, and your Gather doula will always have professional camera equipment in her birth bag. We’ll be by your side helping you with comfort measures, positioning, and decision making along the way. And when it’s time for your baby to join you in arms, we naturally take a step back to let your care team, partner, and loved ones wrap around you. It offers this perfect moment for us to capture this first glimpse between you and your baby, and all of the intimate details of the immediate postpartum time to follow - the wrinkles on baby’s feet, the fuzz on their shoulders, their wide eyes as they study your face, and your partner completely losing it and wiping the most joyous tears from their cheeks. Every moment in this fleeting first few hours together is captured for you to look back on for years to come.
