Friday Finds: Birth equity, ranked-choice voting, TikTok dances, and more!
In addition to reminiscing about past births and looking forward to my next birth, I spent the better part of my week frantically checking for election updates and fuming, cleaning and rearranging our home, and prepping for an upcoming camping trip. A few nights on Minnesota’s north shore + a few nights near the Boundary Waters has me feeling giddy, a little bit nervous, and eager to disconnect. Give me all your cold-weather camping tips, please!
Advocating for your needs in a relationship
“You could feel viewers, Hamilton fans, Democrats, those who for whatever reasons could still afford to believe in norms or justice, laugh with the giddy conviction that a man who grabbed women against their will could never be president, perhaps forgetting that grabbing women against their will had been a habit of presidents all the way back to the characters depicted in … Hamilton. It would be less than four weeks before those who had felt the confidence that misogyny and racism were disqualifying in the United States had that layer of assurance stripped from them.”
Great visuals on how the coronavirus spreads through the air (wear your masks!)
Canada plans to ban many single-use items by the end of next year. This is a great step, and I hope they also hold the companies responsible that are contributing to most of the earth’s pollution.

“If we’re going to be inside, it might as well be the inside we want.”
These sleep aid capsules caught my eye
In anticipation of the long, dark Covid Winter ahead of us, I recently acquired a paint-by-numbers kit and I’m excited to start working on it when we get back from our camping trip. Have you picked up any hobbies or tried anything new during the pandemic? Looking for inspiration? Check out these crafty options.
What do you think of ranked-choice voting?
For our next date night, I might ask my partner to learn a few of these dances with me. He’s going to be absolutely thrilled about this, ha!
