It’s a common trap for most git guides: they’re filled with items that are terribly expensive. In our 2020 Holiday gift guide, we wanted to highlight some gifts that are under $30 for those of us who are sticking to a tighter budget during the holidays. You can still share the love with our friends and family. We’ve got you covered with this gift guide.

This gift guide shares some amazing items from small businesses that are local to the Twin Cities, and it also features BIPOC, fem, and queer-owned businesses across the country. Additionally, we focused on gifts from companies with more eco-friendly practices.

While it’s important to include gifts that fit within more people’s budgets, it’s also critical we remember small businesses set their prices to reflect the realities of being a maker or small business owner. We’ve definitely become desensitized by companies like Amazon. Why spend $30 on an ornament from a small business when I could get something similar for $5? The answer is simple. When you support the small business, you’re more accurately paying for the materials, resources, time, and training it takes for them to create your goods. Unfortunately, the lower pricing of Amazon often reflects the meager compensation provided to the people making your goods.

Take a spin through our Under $30 Gift Guide and feel good about helping a small business see another day.
