An Intimate Maternity Photo Shoot to Celebrate the Beauty and Sensuality of Pregnancy
Ask anyone who has been pregnant about witnessing their changing body, and I’m sure the answers will be complex. Knowing what it’s like to watch your body rapidly change over 40 weeks is something you can really only understand once you live it, and even then words might come up short.
We love being welcomed by families to document this special and fleeting time. Expecting Family sessions typically center around the growing family, with the bump as a central accessory. But we also love working with pregnant people who think outside the box.
When I reached out to schedule this session, I chatted with her about what vibes she was hoping for. She responded: “Are you OK with nudity?” Immediately yes.
Pregnancy is a lot of things and people have complicated feelings about it. It would be wrong to label pregnancy as a beautiful experience for everyone. It’s not. For some people it’s painful, scary, uncertain. For this client, we wanted to highlight the sensuality of pregnancy, something often left out. Why shouldn’t pregnant people feel sexy and desire to show it off?
It was a blast watching her vision and mine come to life in a safe and fun environment.
