Postpartum Doula Support + Documentary Photography

Postpartum support is essential to the entire family’s wellbeing. Gather Birth Cooperative offers postpartum support to families living in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding suburbs.

Postpartum care is just as much for the seasoned parent as it is for the family welcoming their first babe home. Whether you sign up for support in the first few weeks or months down the road, we’ll work with you to build systems that works for your family. Gather Birth Cooperative offers personalized education on newborn care like baby feeding, lactation, bathing, safe sleep, baby wearing, and so much more. We are also there to offer a helping hand with any light household needs while you are at home taking time to rest, nourish, bond, and heal. As an added bonus, your postpartum doula will bring her camera to every shift to capture a few moments of beauty during her visit.

Learn a little bit about your postpartum doulas:

While all five members of the Gather team are thrilled to provide postpartum support, these are our primary providers during fall/winter ‘23-’24.

Emily is a parent of three, professional photographer, and founding member of Gather Birth Cooperative who delights in supporting new families with meal prep, organization systems, and documentation of those early, precious days.

Brooke is a professional birth photographer, certified birth doula, and self-identified pumping pro after exclusively pumping for her daughter throughout her infancy. In addition to her birth and postpartum doula trainings, she also has a M.Ed. in Parent and Family Education.

Brittany is a professional photographer and parent of two who holds an IBCLC certification and infant massage certification, and works as a NICU nurse when she isn’t doula-ing and photographing births.

What does the average postpartum shift look like?

This varies from client to client based on their needs that day. Maybe we’re visiting with you first to see how you’re doing and capturing a few photos of you and your baby before swapping your bedsheets for fresh ones and laundering the old set, preparing a few meals for the week (you provide the recipes and the groceries, we do the hands-on work), resetting your kitchen, and taking out the garbage and recycling as we leave. Needing even more support? We can help with lactation issues, troubleshooting sleep for the whole family, and baby wearing!

What does the average prenatal shift look like?

Consider scheduling your first shift with us before baby’s arrival. We’ll finesse your nursing and diaper changing stations, help you set up baby’s sleep space and make a plan for optimizing sleep for everyone in your household, do some freezer meal prep based on your dietary preferences, and start building your list of postpartum resources just in case. And of course we’ll capture a few sweet photographs of you and your pregnant belly while we’re there.

Gather’s visits take place in your home while at least one parent is present.
