Most soon-to-be parents know that birth can be unpredictable. Our team of birth doulas at Gather Birth work with families in the Minneapolis, St. Paul, and greater Twin Cities area to feel prepared to handle any pivots that arise during labor and delivery.
We know that meeting each new surprise with evidence-based information, a supportive care team, and the ability to be part of the decision making process is critical to a family’s birth experience. A positive birth experience should always be one of the main goals for every one involved, and can be considered in tandem with important medical decisions. The midwives, OB’s, and nurses at HCMC are always phenomenal at centering a family’s entire experience during their labor journey.
It’s rare, but sometimes a baby is the one making decisions during the birth process. This family had the wisdom to trust their baby was trying to tell them how he needed to be born. Trusting their guts allowed them to have a healthy baby, health mom, and demonstrated their strength as parents right from the beginning.
